Your motherboard does effect your performance: while the only things a motherboard can improve on, or suffer is:
Pci 3.0/pci 2.0 gdr data transefer over the gpu
ddr4/ddr3/ddr2
How information travels based on the cpu's architecture.
A poor cpu, with a overpowerful gpu can bottlekneck a pc.
A poor cpu, can hinder performance if gpu's powerfull
inadequate ram, poor power supply can effect a poor system.

P,s who builds a pc with poor motherboard specs it's usually the otherway around.
fx 8350 with 8 cores 200$ would increase frame rates, especially with the right board, and gpu.
Your board seems okay, (but if i was you, i would've upgrded within a heartbeat, that's me.)
