Can a motherboard bottleneck cpu/gpu?

Hello,
I want to build a newpc. MSI H110 VH PLUS, 8 GB PC 19200, GTX 1050 ti, Intel core i5 6600. My friend said that i should buy a motherboard that is atleast H170, because an H110 can bottleneck my CPU. Is it true? Cause the H170 is a bit more expensive.

no, it's not true.

The H110 series motherboards lack some of the feature set of the H170 series, but in no way will it's performance be any different from that of an H170 series motherboard.
