Can a motherboard bottleneck gpu performance?

Hello, im thinking of buying a 6950, and a while back I bought a cheap mobo, Biostar A870. I was wondering if it would effect my performance. I dont ever plan on going Crossfire with this mobo.

Current Specs if it matters..

Windows 7 64-bit

Gskill Ripjaw 1333mhz 2x2 gb

Biostar AM3 A870

AMD Phenom x4 955 3.2ghz

Seagate Barracuda 300gb 7200.8

ATI Sapphire 5770 1gb

Antec Neo HE 500w

thanks, good to hear because I dont plan on overclocking either. Id hate to spend 250 and not have the full use of it.
