can a MSI MS-7778 hold a Radeon 7790?

I am buying a PC and putting a GPU and a new PSU into it. I saw that the Radeon 7790 was PCI Express 16x 3.0, but the motherboard says it only has PCI express 16x 2.0, does that mean the GPU will not work?

I could not figure out that, sorry. could you tell me in simple terms? Is it a 3.0 PCI a backwards compatible part, that just upgrades over the 2.0?

I had an MSI MS-7777 with that very same card...just make sure your case and PSU will be compatible with it.
