We have a Netgear Nighthawk D7000 to which my wife & I connect laptops via ethernet cables & tablets via wi-fi. We're both in our 70's & I'm ok with most computer-related issues except networking. We're moving to a community that has an embedded network that provides residents with a single ethernet port connection. The ISP has advised that our D7000 needs to be replaced by a wireless router if we want to use wi-fi

I will be grateful if someone can please advise if it is possible to configure our D7000 so as to enable us to continue connecting via ethernet & wi-fi

The good news is that your D7000 is both a DSL modem and a wireless router. If yours is the same as the one I was looking at online, you will see a gray port where you now plug in your telephone line (DSL). You should also see a single red port closer to the middle. In your new place you will not use the gray port and will use an Ethernet cable from the Ethernet port in the wall to that red port and your router will work just like you are use to it working (one caveat ... with the change in Internet source, you might have to do the setup again)
