Hello, this is my first time posting here. I know this has been answered so many times, but I have different specs and I saw that the minimum power requirement is 500W and the card itself only draws 165watts. I won a giveaway and I'm now waiting for my GTX 980 Super Jetstream to arrive. Will be upgrading from a GTX 750Ti.

Current Specs:
Core i3-3240
MSI H61M-P31
Silverstone Strider Essential 500W 80+
GTX 750Ti
2x4GB Kingston 1333Mhz
500GB Seagate HDD
80GB WD HDD

I have this PSU Model: Silverstone Strider Essential ST50F-ES 500W so my question, is this enought to run this card? This isn't Bronze, Silver or Gold it's just plain white, "80+". Is it okay to not change my power supply? Computer parts are so expensive here in the Philippines. If ever I do need more wattage, my option is to sell my GTX 750Ti and my PSU and buy a better 650W (Probably from Corsair or EVGA) is this a wise decision?

I think you are good.
The psu has a 6 and a 6+2 power lead, and it is designed to deliver that power.
That is what a GTX980 needs.
I think Silverstone is a good quality psu and can deliver the power it advertises.
Here, it says a GTX980 is supported:

The GTX980 can in theory consume up to 300w. when you include the pcie slot power.
Likely it will consume less.
Fortunately, your cpu is not power hungry.

I would try it.
If you should see artifacts or other indications of a lack of power, then you can change out the psu later.

If I was to upgrade what would you suggest? Is the Corsair CX600 80+ Bronze okay? On a tight budget here tho

If you should see artifacts or other indications of a lack of power, then you can change out the psu later.

How can I tell if it's lacking power? Would it be not risky?

it should be okay give it a try if its not performing as well it should be then change to a 600w tier 1 or 2 psu

what are tiers?

Thank you for all your answers

Loaded question honestly. Do you care about future proofing? I see you are on a budget, so that probably rules out future proofing.

Maybe head over to the "Components" forums and take some time reading through the tier list. Then I would suggest spending some time on PC Part Picker to narrow your searching down.

Well, I do plan on probably getting an i5-3570 (locked) and a Corsair H60i. Would the Seasonic M12II-620 EVO 620W do the job?
