[SOLVED] Can a PCIe 4.0 graphics card work on a PCIe 3.0 slot?

yes it will work.
PCIe 4 has more throughput but few cards actually need it yet.


I'm not sure about your board but it looks good that your board might support PCIe4 with a CPU change.

Thanks for the response. I'm still not confident updating my bios because from what I've heard a tiny mistake could lead to bricking my entire motherboard, so i tend to avoid updating/changing bios.

the biggest issue when flashing a BIOS is power. if you need to borrow one a UPS is the solution to the power problem.

Read the full manual - family friendly translation. an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, or a pound of motherboard as it were. 22 years fixing PC's and I have had one bad bios flash and it was a guess what? power issue, brown out while writing to the EEPROM.
