Can a PS4's performace degrade over time?

I often get large fps drops in games like horizon zero dawn, god of war etc. I've looked everywhere, but most people say they haven't noticed any fps drops on their systems. Maybe I'm just very sensitive to fps drops, thats why I mostly play on pc, but it's a shame I can't fully enjoy the great ps4 exclusives.

No. Ps4 and their games are optmized for their hardware. So no performance degrade. May be if it is too old you need to buy new harddisk for it. But every thing will work fine.
