Can a sata cable plug into an esata port?

I need another hhd in my desktop and I am out of sata ports on my motherbord but I have 3 esata ports in the back and I just need the data from the port to go to the hhd the power is covered so I wonder if a sata cable can work when it is pluged into an esata port?

the cables are electrically the same, but physically different. It would work but the connector wont actually go in. So you'll need something like this.

or you could buy a pcie SATA card 😴
