Can a sata drive be added to a Dell Dimension 8300 computer

I have a Dell Dimension 8300 computer that was purchased in 2003. I would like to know if it is possible to ad a WD 750 Gig HDD to that machine.

There are no SATA ports, so the only way to do it would be to get a PCI SATA card like this

once you did that, the 750GB HDD will work fine.

Hi, Just doing the same for my mother. She has a Dell Dimension 8300, and wants it to run a bit quickier. So upgraded to 2GB ram, and WD blue 1TB SATA. The 8300 has two SATA ports, only at 1.5gbs. (kind of max with PCI) Just this minute installed the new HD, reinstalled winxp, no problems, all booting fine. You need to enable the SATA controller in the BIOS. Detected the drive no problem. regards,
