Can a single 970 do 3 monitors?

Also can I do eyefinity(or whatever nvidia calls it) and I heard you need something called displayport, but my monitors just have dvi, hdmi, and vga.

Did you read any of it? eg "In 3D Vision Surround, each monitor must be an identical make and model, and you must use three matching digital connectors. We will go into detail below, but you may need additional adapters for this."

Yes I did read that. I mean in what situation would you use 3d and 2d. Like in 2d games you use 2d and in 3d games you use 3d?
