Question Can a single ram slot support up to 8GB?

I have a Biostar G41D3C mb. I fried up a ram slot and that leaves me with a single ram slot, I'm on a budget so will it support if I buy a single slot 8GB ram stick and plug it in? Or does it support 4GB in each slot so it's total of 8GB? Thanks to whoever willing to answer.

Anything before lga 1155 doesnt support 8GB per slot. so yeah, only 4GB max per slot.
