Can a single SSD be used to run 2 PCs simultaneously

Hi everyone...!!!
This is an extremely noob question... But just thinking about this
The title describes it clearly...
I have one SSD and I want to run it on two different motherboards... Something like dual booting but with the second OS running on another motherboard totally.... And also simultaneously...!!

Why?

There is, sort of, a way to do this. Booting off a device attached to the network is possible.

Performance is poor, though, and it doesn't appear to solve any problems you have.

Hi,

It is not possible to connect one ssd to two motherboards at the same time.

So you could have one MB do a network boot off the machine with the ssd. Note that you would have to use Linux as windows does not handle network boot.

Also note that performance would not be great.

Well, I may receive flak from some users of the forum... But still...
I am running a mining rig and I am planning on taking up a new one... My SSD is 120 GB and fully capable of taking 2 OS at once... Didn't want to waste money on a new one...
Can you direct me on how to do this so that I can check...

Is the mining rig Linux? A 16GB flash drive is ~$10 and will be faster and easier. What do you value your time at? Because you could spend *hours* trying to get this to work.

Network booting is something I know is possible, in theory, but have not really dealt with.

Yes I agree, you will spend hours setting it up.

Essentially you need to set up a "PXE Boot"server thaat client machines can network bppt fropm.

You will also need a "File Server" so all machines can store state information. In this case the client machines will not have full ssd speed as all writes are over the network.

You are much better off booting from a USB drive, or buying a cheap hdd (it will be faster).

If you really want to explore, look up "PXE Boot" on the web, you will find plenty of help.
