Can a single stick of RAM become dual channel?

The title was probably not worded well, but her is my question: Lets say I purchased one stick of DDR3 (8GB) RAM for my P.C. Would I be able to add another identical stick later on, and make therefore making it dual channel? Sorry if the question sounds funny, but I can clarify if need be.

Yes, try to match the specs as much as possible. Particularly, voltage, CAS latency and frequency.

So theoretically if I purchased to identical sticks of RAM and up them in my system at different times it would run as dual-channel as long as they were in the right slots and identical in specs? Sorry just clarifying

Yes, though DDR3 can be super finicky and require a lot of fiddling at the BIOS level if the sticks don't like each other.

Again, just clarifying, but if they are identical sticks (same model, voltage, speed etc) i should have no issues?
