[SOLVED] Can a slow harddrive cause poor system performance

So I recently got my dad a laptop for his birthday but since day 1 he complained that it's to slow to boot up. The hard drive is very slow so I am going to buy him an SSD but he also said Facebook videos dont load and the internet can take a bit to load. Is this part of the slow harddrive issue?

The WIFI is a more likely cause for the Internet problems than the hard drive.

The wifi isnt the issue I'm certain of that. It is something with the computer

debsbigbus, you can download and run SeaTools to check on the health of the drive. Also, full specs would be useful in determining what the potential problem may be.

What preinstalled bloatware is running?
