can a sudden power loss corrupt system files and cause proplems with windows 10 ?

I suppose it could happen if your computer was in the middle of updating itself or if there was information being written to the hard drive (which is why software installs or saves always say "Don't turn off your computer."). You might be able to run checkdisk or something like that. No idea how to do it on Windows 10. Maybe something you can do from Safe Mode. I would see if Safe Mode is even accessible first.

I'd recommend a battery backup for future power loss prevention. I had one from APC that I enjoyed until it started to sound its alarm and randomly drain the battery despite being plugged in. I still haven't bought a new one. I really should, since I'm preaching about it.
