Can a USB sound card improve mic quality? (Logitech G230)

Would a soundcard like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-External-Adapter-Windows-AU-MMSA/dp/B00IRVQ0F8/ref=cm_cd_al_qh_dp_i improve my mic quality? Whenever I record or listen to my own mic all i hear is static aside from my voice and no driver update or anything has worked.

While using an external sound chip should eliminate internal wiring picking up noise from inside the PC, there is still a chance that the USB sound chip and its power supply circuit may not be terribly effective at filtering out power supply noise. The only way to find out for sure is to try it. At $6 if you lump it up with other stuff to get free shipping, it isn't too big of a risk.

Thanks! I guess I'll just deal with the mic if it doesn't work. I've already had it for nearly 2 years anyways.

If you were using the front panel IO from your PC case, you may also want to try the rear jacks: you may get better results from eliminating the internal front panel cable.
