Can all three adaptes be active?

I want to setup three monitors and want to make my first one adapt from dvi to hdmi because it has built in speakers in the monitor. The second and third one will be Mini DisplayPort to hdmi. So do the first two have to be passive and the third one be active or can they all be active adapters?

DVI -> HDMI will only result in a video signal. DVI does not transmit audio signals, therefore you will not get audio.

Regarding mini DP -> HDMI, I do not know if only one adapter needs to be active, or both adapters need to active. I would assume both needs to be active adapter for Eyefinity to work.
