Can an admin on an online video game server find out my real IP address or network if I use a VPN?

In the past I have logged onto the server with my real account using my real IP.

Then I joined the server using a fake account while on the VPN (CyberGhost 5 - free version) which gave me a new IP.

Recently I logged onto the server on my real IP and got into some troubling and the admin was looking into my account. He said I used 5 different IPs, 2 different subnets. What exactly is subnet in this case? Does the CyberGhost VPN counts as one?

No identical info. It's just a video game server where you join with a name and play, you don't have to register. I only have one account registered on my real IP address, and zero accounts registered with the VPN. I just joined with unregistered IDs on the VPN.

I did change my real IP multiple times though but it wasn't for the purpose of joining the online game, it was totally unrelated.

He thinks he know something cool because he knows the word subnet. A game can defiantly find the ip you open a session from. If you were to open a session from 2 different ip it very well could have stored some file on your machine it is exchanging. Even some flash games store stuff on your machine. It would know it was the same machine.

There is no way for him to determine the actual subnet your ISP is using. He might infer that if the ip addresses are very different they are different subnets but there is no way to get the actual subnets.

The large problem is everyone is stealing information off your machine. There used to be a way to get the processor serial number before this command was disabled by intel. To really protect yourself you need to run from a cleanly installed virtual machine. Since many game programs run all kinds of intrusive software under the guise of stopping cheating I tend to install them in their own machine with no access to any of my real data.

So he'll definitely know if it was me using the IPs from the VPN then?

It depends what it saves. These are like tracking cookies in a web browser. It does not matter what IP you come from the next time you access the site it will send the cookie. It really depends how the app is written. I would generally assume there is tracking being done.
