I only need to transfer data and directory structure to the new windows 10 system. I am not interested in running software from it. Once the files were transferred, I would pull it out and trash it.

IDE sounds about right. I am not a hardware guy, my background is software. I can be really dangerous inside the box, so I try to ask questions whenever I'm in doubt. Thanks for your answer
