Can an HDD be incompatible?

I was building a pc on pcpartpicker.com and when i tried to put in my hdd on my list the site said that my drive wouldn't be compatible with my MoBo.
Is this just a glitch or bs cause i've never heard of that kind of problem?

Send the link with that drive and your board in it. Could be the board or drive didn't have any sata ports. Or if it was an m2 ssd maybe the board didn't have those ports.

That is a sas drive you need a sata drive. Sas is an oddball specialty drive

Turn on compatibility filter and avoid stuff like that

Ow yeah that would be it i didn't really look i just quickly searched my drive not if it was the sata one or not did not even know what sas drives where.
