Can an SSD be turned into an external HD with a USB enclosure?

By doing that you would lose the ONE big advantage of an SSD - its speed! A modern SSD is probably twice as fast as a modern HDD. BUT the USB2 interface limits data transfers to, at best, ¼ of the speed of a HDD, or thus 1/8 of the speed of the SSD! IF you have a USB3 port on your machine, and IF you buy an external enclosure with a USB3 interface, then MAYBE you could use the SSD's speed.
