Can any lga775 socket motherboard support quad core?

My motherboard is a emachines et1850, currently there is a core 2 duo e5500 on the motherboard. Can my motherboard support core 2 quad q8200?

No, older mobos than 2006 only support p4 and less.
cause od the chipset, 965 and older for instance, unless you wanna play with bios modding and risking.

so i checked the cpu support for the chipset inside, which is a intel G41 a3. and in the list it does include the intel core 2 quad q8200. So i just want to be sure before swapping the processors

Anything newer , like p35/45, G31/41 are compatible, just update bios to the latest and check compability of specific mobo to be sure.

Also to note, some ddr2 mobos (if youre gonna use ddr2 mobos) are kinda crappy with ddr pick, pick ram sticks above 1GB with memory modules/chips on both side for better compability (just an info).

the motherboard i have is a ddr3. with two 2gigs of dimms. and few minutes ago, i installed the core 2 quad q8200. and it works just fine.
