Hello, I am planning to buy a phone and I found out that they provide the OEM version of it.

Since I am not a native English speaker, I don't understand complex sentences with the "professional" way of speaking. And so, if anyone has the time, could anybody explain to me what OEM actually is? Is there any possibility of missing accessories?

In the context that you are asking the question, I would be surprised if you received the box contents. Most likley a bare phone with battery, and maybe a charger. OEM means original equipment manufacturer. In electronics, it's almost always used to denote products that come in traypacks. (A traypack is a method of selling multiple, identical items in large numbers, without having them packaged individually. It's the way manufacturers order items for an assembly line. They are usually priced for a minimum order of 1000. When a retail store buys a traypack and sells the contents, they call it the OEM SKU.

Not sure what you are asking about "missing accessories", if you buy a phone in a box as it comes from the vendor, it will have what is in the box. If say you go to a retail store like Best Buy. In some cases, when people say OEM, they mean the bare device. So an OEM hard drive would only come with the hard drive and no cables or software. Just a brown box and a drive. A Retail package would likely have some more things in it but also would cost more.

If you are buying something that states its an "OEM" version, you need to read what the sale includes.

Thanks alot. By missing accessories for example when I bought my Samsung Galaxy Pocket, it didn't have the hands free, while other stores had a Samsung hands free. So a retail package means it will have important accessories and OEM might not? I will also ask some shops as well since I am not so familiar with this.
