Can anyone confirm this is PC build is good for 3D rendering and animation?

I'm helping my friend select parts for a computer. He uses Blender and needs a PC for modeling and animation. There is a GPU, he will be getting the EVGA GTX 1070, I couldn't find it on pcpartpicker but he will have one. I don't know much about 3D modeling or animation so that's why I'm asking if this is good enough for rendering

1. Not enough RAM memory for Blender.
2. Don't get the "K" and the water cooler, you don't need to OC a production machine, eventually it will lead to errors (especially with non ECC memory), abortion of jobs and frustration.
3. Get two 24" IPS panels with small bezels.

1. Get another 16GB of RAM.
2. That monitor is not suited to graphics work, really want IPS panel and curved is just marketing to get you to pay more.
3. That power supply is overkill for that build as you only need 550W max.

Try this. I selected best bang for buck items. Replace the 970 with a 1070. It's only a placeholder.

I tried convincing him to choose another monitor, he just really likes it because its widescreen and WQHD. After all, he will be doing some gaming from time to time. I'm guessing the 1070 will add to the 550w, right? Or is that including the GPU? I'll definitely add the extra 16GB ram and cut down the PSU, thanks for the help.

He's in Finland. Prices are probably much different and he prefers a specific store (http://www.jimms.fi/) to buy from. I'll consider the specs though, thanks. I gave him a water cooling system, is that fine?

Hey,

Gtx 1070 should be a very good card at the price point when it comes out, but if you are primarily focusing on 3D rendering and animation you may benefit from a Quadro card (depending on the use case). That is something I would look into. Quadro cards support 10bit color (if color work is critical, but keep in mind you will need a color accurate 10bit LCD panel) and are generally more suited to certain rendering applications.

Also I would go with an air cooler rather than the AIO liquid cooler you chose and depending on how heavy the workload is a 32GB kit of RAM might be useful.

I'm only getting the K version because it has 6 cores, I don't think theres a cheap enough Intel hexacore processor. Also, could you recommend me a good monitor? thanks.
https://www.blender.org/download/requirements/ says needs 16GB ram for optimal production grade hardware?

As of a water cooling system, I disagree with you. I don't reccomemd any 120mm rads. Good air coolers that may be cheaper performs better sometimes. I gave a noctua and that one is better than most 120mm rads.
