I know this is another post but I honestly am not getting any answers and would just like to solve my issue asap.

So as the title says my new wifi adapter wont connect to the 5ghz network. I can only connect to the 2.4ghz network. Link to adapter : https://www.amazon.com/Amotus-Wireless-802-11ac-10-7-10-11-Receiver/dp/B01FF11QRO

I've tried renaming the 5ghz network but it still doesn't pop up on my list of networks. My phone is able to connect to the 5ghz network so its not like its off or anything.

I've gone to device manager and even though I switched the channel mode to 5G only on my Adapter, its still connected to the 2.4ghz network.

Please if there are any experts out here, your help would be very welcome. Thanks

Solution
Well it could be broken, and needs to be warrantied.

A quick check would be to open a command prompt and enter the following command:

netsh wlan show drivers

Should return a line that looks like this " Radio types supported: 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n, 802.11ac

You are looking for the AC part.

If you haven't grabbed the drivers from the manufacturer and installed them manually, I would give that a go. The default drivers in Windows may not be fully featured.

in case all of you failed to notice he stated:
1. I've tried renaming the 5ghz network but it still doesn't pop up on my list of networks.
2. My phone is able to connect to the 5ghz network so its not like its off or anything.

meaning he can access the router just fine under 5ghzwith his phone no matter what network it is named (ISD)

looking at the specs it should when you have installed the driver for this usb device and click on the wifi icon see the 5ghz router signal, if it does not, I would speak to a manufacturer tech and get it swapped out for a new one, as this one sounds faulty.
