Can anyone help troubleshoot why I can't get 2560x1080 on my second monitor?

Hello everyone. I had a question. I recently purchased two LG 25" Ultrawide monitors. They only had HDMI inputs on them. The following link is the monitors.

My video card is an MSI R9 270x 2 GB. Linked below.

The first monitor I have hooked up via an HDMI cable from the monitor to the HDMI port on my video card. I am able to set my resolution to 2560x1080 and it looks great!

However, because my video card only has one HDMI slot, I bought a Dual Link Monster DVI Female to HDMI Male adapter. Linked below.

I plug that into the back of my second monitor and then connect my DVI cable linked below, between my video card and the adapter.

Unfortunately I cannot set my resolution to 2560x1080 on my second monitor. I have tried both DVI ports on my video card (the DVI-I and DVI-D) and it's the same thing, I go change the resolution in Windows and it doesn't let me take it higher than 1920x1080. I have rebooted the computer a couple times, I have installed the monitor driver and updated my video card drivers. (all with restarts).

I have also tried each HDMI port on the back of the second monitor. Nothing just really seems to take. I am not sure what to check out next to try and get my resolution where I want it to be? When I was shopping for parts early today I noticed some display port to HDMI adapters, but the packaging said they only supported resolutions up to 1920.

Anyone have any thoughts on what I need to address to get this resolutions where I want it to be on my second monitor? THANKS SO MUCH!!!

Solution
Well that adapter you linked, says conforms to HDMI 1.0 specs, version 1.0 only supports 1080p. Might need a better adapter or a displayport to hdmi adapter. they can go higher.

Good eye. When I look in my Catalyst Control Center, it looks like my main monitor that works, is in 1080p. So i'm not sure if that means that would be fine or not?

Might just have to bite the bullet and order the right adapter online. God knows I have about 17.3 million HDMI cords laying around my house. They're like the new coaxial cables it seems around here :) I am just sort of bummed because from my initial googling it seems that with DVI Dual Link you would be good to go, and I made sure the adapter was dual link and all that too. Sucky. I am going to see what else some folks have to say as well before I buy more stuff. My wallet is going to learn to hate me before this is over. I am hoping to get it done with DVI somehow, and hoping that it's just a software issue :)

Anyways, thanks again for thought getochkn.

UPDATE - When looking further into the HDMI 1.0 spec, getochkn, on Wikipedia, I think I saw what is screwing me up, and it sucks! From Wikipedia -

The HDMI specification defines the protocols, signals, electrical interfaces and mechanical requirements of the standard.[42] The maximum pixel clock rate for HDMI 1.0 was 165 MHz, which was sufficient to allow 1080p and WUXGA (1920×1200) at 60 Hz. HDMI 1.3 increased that to 340 MHz, which allows for higher resolution (such as WQXGA, 2560×1600) across a single digital link.[43] An HDMI connection can either be single-link (type A/C/D) or dual-link (type B) and can have a video pixel rate of 25 MHz to 340 MHz (for a single-link connection) or 25 MHz to 680 MHz (for a dual-link connection). Video formats with rates below 25 MHz (e.g., 13.5 MHz for 480i/NTSC) are transmitted using a pixel-repetition scheme.[4]

I need a 1.3 spec'd adapter to get the resolution I want. No good with what I have now it seems. Thanks for helping point me in the right direction getochkn. I picked you as answer, so feel free to update your post with relevant info if Googlers come around :)
