can anyone please help me to locate the antenna on my wifi adapte so that i can solder an external antenna

Solution
If the solder could stick to that metal but i assume that would be aluminium. But remember you need special cable for that i would desolder whole "Thingy" and solder the cable that is usually used as deatachable antenna for wifi adapter and then solder, but you're gonna need it to stick it to the plastic base (hot glue). And cable has 2 conductors the outer shield and inner copper base, copper base set as +(signal) and outer as - (ground).


OR second option , check polarity of both connectors when desoldered, solder both together (++,--) and then connect to one antenna, signal could get better.
It may not be possible. Many of the small USB device have the antenna built into the circuit board. Many times it look just like a copper trace on the board. Unless you would get lucky and they mark it ant or something you will not find it. You many times need very specialized tools to deal with surface mount parts anyway.
 


thanks for the info. and by the way can i just combine to one antenna and solder it into the metal that goes around the pcb like what i did in the picture with the green lines that i have marked number 3

his wifi dongle is going to look like a octopus in an armored shell..

I am curious why would you want to add antennas to your dongle, think it will improve your chances of reaching a Wi-Fi signal ?
hope not because it doesn't work that way. The signal is pushed from the Ap/router... your device cannot "draw it in with longer antenna. and the device already has a max range that doubtfully, your 1 ft additional leads to the antenna will produce any real improvement .

but for all sake an purpose , go firth and jigger with it, and prove me wrong, I would love to see Before and after Wi-Fi results.
because if it works, I have a few dongles I would "attach an antenna to myself."

 


It does make diffirence , i have 12dB antenna as same as 8 and 4, i tried all 3 and i can say on Wifi adapter the 8dB works pretty well, but with 12 it loses signal and with 4 its pretty weak.
