Question Can anyone tell me which BIOS version is installed on the X470 Gaming Pro Carbon I just received?

Just received a Ryzen 5 3600X and an X470 Gaming Pro Carbon. Realized that I may have made a mistake because the board may not be compatible directly out of the box. I don't have another Ryzen chip to update the BIOS.

I don't want to go through the process of building everything up if I need to do a return. So here's a pic of the label and a link to the MSI support page.

Is this running 7B78 v 20? from the 7B78-020 string in the S/N?

You won't be able to know the BIOS version by scanning the QR code.
I don't think that motherboard has the BIOS update for Ryzen 3000 series CPUs.

Get one of these MSI mobos..they already come with BIOS updated for Ryzen 3000 series CPUs.

I would build it outside of the case (Bread board it) with the MB on the MB box or a wooden table.
Then you can check the BIOS Version.
I personally do this with every PC I build just to be sure all the components are working properly before I install them in a case.

My recentlty purchased Asus ROG Strix X470-F came with a Ryzen 3000 compatible BIOS out of the box even though it didn't have the Ryzen 3000 Desktop Ready Sticker on the box.

If it doesn't have a Ryzen 3000 ready BIOS you could always check local PC shops and see if they will update the BIOS for a small fee.
