I planted it years ago. It survived multiple freezes. And every spring it outruns me, growing before I can even get out to the garden. It is 6'. Can anything on it be eaten? Or should I just chop the whole thing off and let it grow from the ground again?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Chop it off, mulch it up, and sprinkle the mulch in the asparagus garden. Recyles asparagus specific nutrients back into fresh growth.

Enjoy.

When I was young we picked wild asparagus allong mid-western gravel roads. Grew along the fence lines.

Anything a foot or more was too tough.

Cooked in cream sauce and served on toast.

Good but grilled or roasted is better.
