I have a 1050 ti I’ve had it for a while now, when playing games my computer would lag a lot but when browsing my pc would be ok

No. Bad thermal paste can't cause low frames in games, although it can indirectly. You can get higher temperatures with lower quality thermal paste, or poorly applied thermal paste, which will impact performance as all computer parts operate better when they are cooler.
