Can Battlefield 4 run via Internet through a mobile phone?

I currently have a 15 MBit Internet connection run through a socket in the wall, however I just switched to a mobile phone company where there is mobile Internet included - up to 40 GB use a month and it supports 4G.

On the mobile phone company's homepage I can see their coverage of my home address should give 17-71 MBit/s, but it say that is a theoretical estimate and that the actual coverage depends on local conditions such as hills, houses and trees. I live in the center of Denmark's 6. largest city (60.000 citizens)

The salesman claims it should be possible to play BF4 just fine as their network is stable and fast, and that he's played League of Legends at his home address (which is not where I live though) on just a 3G network. But you know salesmen - it's better to ask around than to trust their advice 100% :)

Therefore I hope you guys can help me with a few questions:

1) Can I terminate my current Internet connection and just use Internet on my pc via a smartphone instead and then play Battlefield 4 with no problems whatsoever?
Or will I experience lag, fallouts of the connection etc.?

2) Is 40 GB data limit enough to play BF4 0-3 hours a day?

3) Will I need a 4G phone or will a 3G phone do?

4) Do you run BF4 this way yourself? So you have experience with this working/not working?

As you can probably tell I don't know much about smartphones, mobile phone technology etc. but I hope the above info is understandable and sufficient.
Otherwise just ask :)

Thanks!

Best,
Henrik

Ps. I've asked this same question in the BF4 forum but didn't get so many replies:

yes you can use your phone.

you need to download the speedtest.net app and check what your latency and speed is.

if your latency is below 60ms then you are fine.

as far as speeds go I would want at least 1 meg up and down. I would suspect that 2-3megs would put you in a much better position.

the only way to know what speeds you need will be to actually test it using your phone. the latency is most likely to be your issue

you will have to have a 4g phone and also that data limit may become an issue. use task manager to se how much data you are currently using in game and also what your average up and down speeds are like.

I have been a tier II tech for mobile phones and a 3g will not cut it.

Latency - is that the same as the "ping"-value you can see pr. multiplayer server in BF4?

Say I get 17 MBit/sec - how many MB up and down is that?

Problem is I don't own a smartphone at all currently so I can't test it with 4G.
My GF has one but it's 3G only.

Hm, I just checked Task Manager while playing BF4 Conquest 64 player map via my current Internet provider.
Just played a couple of minutes, it says "Bytes Received: 8.600.000".
Can I use that number for anything?

Sorry for being so clueless & thanks for your help :)

Like others have said, run a speed test and check your latency. I think you might run into a couple of issues, one would be an inconsistent network so you might drop connection mid game/get rubber banding.

Also if your buying a PC game now you download the entire client, Most games now are easily 15GB+ and if you do any kind of youtube, netflix, hulu etc... your going to hit your cap pretty quickly.

This is what i am talking about, get carried away on a game and BAM 100$ extra bill because you went over your usage limit.

Just keep an eye on that or get unlimited data.

Lol, I leave my PC at home and play video games through it from my iPhone.

You just need really fast internet for no lag. First get a USB Keyboard for your iPhone. After that, control your phone with a screen share program (like Teamviewer). I play BF4 through my phone and all these nerds are like OMG HOw Im like cheats my good man cheats.

the big difference here is that you are only relaying the output of your monitor and some input from controls and not directly communicating with battlefield servers. it does not really pertain to the OP's situation
