Can bumping a harddrive cause corrupt the files on harddrive and how can I check.

Let me put it like this: If you throw your HDD out the window, will your files be corrupted?

You could start by using that build-in Windows scan utility and check for errors. If it doesn´t find anything, there are plenty of tools out there that do check for bad sectors, corrupted files and what not.
