[SOLVED] Can companies tell the difference between a defect and fried cpu?

So i think i fried my cpu and i really dont know how, its not my first time building a pc. I can still send it back but they say they will run tests to see if it really doesnt work. My question is, can a company discover that a cpu is fried and deny your money back or will any problem be considerd defect?

They can plug it in a MB and check. Visually only if there's physical damage or burn/overheat marks.

Might be no marks at all...You can fry your motherboard , cpu , memory and possibly damage the PSU.
