Solution
1050 TI - Minimum System Power Requirement (W) 300

Plus you probably need external connectors, anyway. Good luck with what you choose. You have all the information and you need to decide what you want to do.

My opinion - sell it, start new if you can

SOMETIMES an older motherboard may be fussy and refuse to work with a newer video card.

But you can't break anything by trying this, assuming your power supply is of good quality and is not on the edge of what it can already handle.

It's not an age issue. It's a bios issue that has to do with things like uefi compatability through CSM, disabling secure boot and even then there can be issues. Only a full uefi bios is issue free, any legacy bios is hit or miss as to whether any nvidia card 9 series or newer will actually play nice with the motherboard. Even harder to get any AMD newer than the HD series working right, many blamed driver issues, and the Rx series has absolute fits trying to play nice with legacy bios.

Best option is to make absolute sure you have the latest possible bios release installed and hope it's got any uefi fixes included, disable Secure boot, enable CSM and hope it works. Some brands like Evga cards are far more adaptable than others, so that is also a consideration.

Whatever GPU you buy, it will be better than what you have, but this is when the word "bottleneck" can be used because its an old CPU.

Check PSU is good enough, also as mentioned by some good folk here, Mobo can be a problem, but at least if you do buy the new GPU and you get it working, the next upgrade is a complete new system, but it will now be running as fast as it can be.

But i have a 2008 cpu will it work fine, I also see many peoples use the same cpu i have but im scared to upgrade, since my pc is a compaq elite

Well that changes a lot of things.
I guess this is what your computer is - https://www.xeptor.co.uk/products/Computers/Desktops/HP/HP-Compaq-Elite-8000-Core-2-Quad-Q9500-2-83-GHz-?prodid=106745

Email Compaq and ask them, they know more about their product than I do.
So I say, sell it and start again....sorry!
EDIT -
Device Type Power supply
Nominal Voltage AC 120/230 V (50/60 Hz)
Power Provided 240 Watt
big problem..... if you went over a 1050, but still wouldn't trust it on a 1050, maybe a 1030. Still loads better than what you have.

Ok that's my pc, but i dont wany a 1030 i want a 1050, i had one 1030 on another pc and gmod would crash lots of times, even without addons, it would lag too, later i solved that 1050 ti would fix these and it advences the fps to 60 to 100 and more
