I have cx 600, gtx 970 and I5-4690, and I am wondering if I can overclock my card around +140 core and +300 memory and If it could hurt my power supply.
Thanks for answers 😀

A Youtube video is not a professional source of information. How does one video of this happening classify all CX as likely to explode? As far as I know, the CX series all has working protections. I guess the only explosions may be the electrolyte in the capacitors vaporizing from the increased resistance due to their high failure rate. But even then a violent explosion would not be common with the CX, they seem to just peacefully fail.

Oh believe me, I browse these forums a ton. But you are not taking a lot of stuff into consideration. It's just like criminology, making assumptions is never good, and that's why 99% of people do not understand crime. You have to use real data, so in this instance, statistics like:

1) How many people purchase CX PSUs compared to other PSUs? Obviously if more are purchased you're going to see more failures.
2) How many people with failing CXs come to Tomshardware? Probably a higher volume of people with failing CX PSUs come to Tomshardware because they did not research their PSUs in the first place, so they seek the help of experts. Whereas people with other units, such as a G2 failure, might not need forum help because they are already informed enough on PSUs.

I do not consider the CX to fail any more than the EVGA 500W, or some Antec VP units that also use Capxon/Samxon capacitors. This is my own philosophy, but until the above two statistics are actually evaluated, we cannot make these assumptions even based off a lot of people with not-working CX units on the forums. I consider the CX to fail because of the capacitors, the brands they used, and I play that fair opinion on other units that use Capxon/Samxon.
