Can entering a DDR RAM in a DDR 2 slot damage the motherboard?

ddr, ddr2, ddr3, ddr4, and eventually ddr5 (or w/e enxt one is) all have different forms. (as in the slot length and the divider)

you can not, w/o damaging it, even put it in.

threads, form, and if by a miracle you could, likely a system would not identify it as even ebing in.

Well the thing is, It almost fits in my DDR2 Slot and can get in. Unless the "DDR2" printed on my motherboard was a misprint..

The notch is close yes but thats irrelevant. As other's have said it wont work.

DDR 184pins
DDR2 240pins

DDR dimm slots don't have enough pins to work with DDR2 or enough pins for vice versa.

Solved. Apparently the idiots at Gigabyte wrote in the manual of the motherboards "DDR1 and DDR2" Which confused me. Apparently both slots are DDR. and the DDR1 and DDR2 are to refer to DDR Slot #1 and DDR Slot #2. It was all misunderstanding. Hence it explains my DDR RAM can enter easily with no problem at all in both slots. Thanks all!

Damn those Gigabyte idiots, not labeling their motherboard to take into account a product that did not yet exist in a configuration that would never be possible.
