I have eSata port too and i simply use it as a normal sata port for inner storage. It works normal. I used to have it hooked up to an external eSata port on my pc case and it worked as any usb. You plugged in a portable disk with eSata interface in it worked ok. But like Lufil said, if you are going to use it as a connection for portable storage, then you should use "remove this device" in windows. Or you could go in settings (device manager) and change the removal policiy from "better performace" to "quick removal". Hope it helps in good luck.
