Can front panel connectors damage anything!

So recently I got my motherboard back for my PC and I hooked up my computer and I got to the front panel connectors and I think I plug them in the wrong way, because when I had everything put together I turned it on and the lights for my front fan would turn on and the restart light then my computer would shut off. Then a couple seconds later it would turn on (without touching anything) with the lights stay on for like a half a second then turn off. I think that I had the front panel connectors in the wrong spot. (there in JFP1 which is the right spot). So could I have damaged the headers or the motherboard or what? My connectors that I used (HDD LED), (POWER SW), and (RESTART SW) -Please help, thank you

only way to tell is if you plug them properly and try to start it. if everything works you didnt break it.

No. Try taking the board outside the case and test there. Make sure that both 24 and 8 pin power cables are properly connected.

I would do as the above user recommends.

It is important to know that technically it is possible(but rare) to cause damage with things in the wrong places.

Follow the motherboard manual to ensure everything is right. Connecting an LED backwards will just cause it not to light, while connecting a switch backwards will not cause any issues. Placing a connector from an led to a switch place is how things get get a little dangerous(again, not always going to cause damage and quite rare.).

The first time I did it wrong but the second time I think I did it right (80% sure I use the manual the second time). I think I shorted something so can someone tell what it might be? And how to fix?
