No, a socket has physical dimensions and physical arrangement of pins. So physically only a cpu of the correct socket type will fit a motherboard. Not to mention the chipsets on the motherboard only being designed for certain CPUs. Plus the extra fact that AMD has the pins on the cpu and holes in the motherboard socket, intel has pins on the motherboard socket, and contact points on the cpu.
