Can GTX 1060 work with old Asus P5B Deluxe?

Hello all,

I have this nearly 10-year build,
M/B: Asus P5B Deluxe LGA775
CPU: Intel Core2Quad Q9550 @ 2,83
GPU: MSI Radeon 5770
RAM: Kingston HyperX 4GB DDR2 PC6400
PSU: Corsair RM750i
Case: Fractal Design Define R5

I know it is very old but for the moment there's no money to upgrade everything. I would like a new card to be able to play some games decently (e.g. COD). Since I am actually planning to upgrade some time in the near future, I would like to avoid getting an older one and then throw it away along with all the other parts. I would like to ask you if a 1060 will actually work with this mobo, so I can keep it for the future. It is PCIe 1.1 and I've heard that new cards require UEFI BIOS (definitely not my case)

Can anyone confirm 100% (possibly tried) that this kind of card will work on my machine?

Thanks,
Nick.

Yeah it will work. While new GPUs use PCIe 3.0 and that board probably has 1.0, they are backwards compatible. 1.0 will see some transferring speed limitations on the GPU but with a weaker CPU that's not your only problem so that's fine.

Thanks for your immediate reply. Well indeed what yo usaid makes alot of sense. An RX 470 sounds nice ore even a 1050 to save some. But the critical question is: will they work with such an old mobo?
