You may wish to try the game and see how it runs on your present system. While I know the game can use 100% of a 4-core Intel like the i5-4440 at times in Multiplayer I'm not certain what the CPU usage would be with a GTX650 as all the benchmarks I've seen were with better graphics cards.

It's going to cost you $175 plus tax to get an i5-4440 I believe which is quite a bit of money.

And, as I said before you may be better off putting that towards a better graphics card since BF4 is likely not the only game you'd play. Many games will be fine with a 2-core Pentium (assuming it's a recent one). BTW, don't have a web browser running when playing games as they can often use a lot...
I used to run BF4 at 1080p and low/medium-ish details with a GTX 460, which is similar in performance to the 650. It did okay. I think your processor and RAM will be a bigger issue for that game.

If you're buying new, skip the GTX 650 for a Radeon R7 260X, R7 265 or R9 270/270X. The GTX 750 and 750 Ti are expensive for their performance and only worthwhile when you can't power anything better.

Edit: At 1366x768 you'll do better, but I still recommend an R7 260 or R7 260X over the GTX 650 or 750, just in the interest of getting more for your money.

Don't forget he's got a dual-core Pentium and that BF4 is very demanding of the CPU especially in Multiplayer. He's not going to get the same performance as the link you gave.

He can run it fine. The 650 is perfectly capable of running the game, and the pentium CPU (assuming it is sandy/ivy/haswell) will be fine. An LGA775 pentium will not be good, nor will the budget ones. The higher end ones ($70 - $90) are the ones that are powerful enough for the game.

He could upgrade to an i3 later if he really wanted to.

*If you get an AMD card, and run Mantle for BF4 it doesn't need quite as much processing power.

I did recommend the GTX750Ti, but on further looking you can get an R9-270 for $150 from Sapphire. The R9-270 is about 25% more powerful than the GTX750Ti so it's a better value.

**Look at the BENCHMARK (summary of many games). For the GTX750Ti, use the HD7850 performance. Note that the GTX650 gets 44% the performance of the R9-270 (assuming no bottlenecks).

Summary:
I'm not certain WHICH Pentium you have though I'm assuming socket 1150. If so, I believe the R9-270 for $150 would be the better solution for your money rather than getting a better CPU.
