Hi,
My son received gtx MSI 970 OC 4GD5 GPU (currently he has GTX 1050 TI 4GB of Gigabyte).

I installed it on his computer (mobo MSI h81m, e33), but the screen still stay grey.
Furthermore, the cpu fans spins for 30 seconds, then stops.

I saw it also has 2 6-pins connectors on the GPU, tried connecting another cable from PSU to the GPU, but still the same.

Do you know what am I missing? why it is not showing?

Power supply 500W (not ideal, but should be sufficient according to spec).

Thanks,

Erez.

Solution
You need to connect two 6-pin PCIe cables from PSU to the graphics card (ie one cable to each connector)

If the PSU does not have two 6-pin PCIe cables, then you'll need to get a new PSU which does have them.
It needs to be a good-quality PSU (Corsair, EVGA, Seasonic) not a cheap one.
