I found a noname h81 mobo that has nvme slot. my question is, can this mobo handle it while equipped with i5-4460? will it decrease the performance of gpu becasue of the lane?

Unknown. Name brand BIOS did not support NVMe. A no name? Who knows. A SATA SSD is much simpler and guaranteed to work. There will be no noticeable performance difference.

In a recent YT review, one of the influencers had purchased a sketchy Chinese mobo with an old chipset and M.2 onboard. It was stated very clearly that it did not work (at least in this case with an NvME).

Best practice would be to skip this kind of trash build hardware.

The last old board I saw with an NVMe slot had physical jumpers to control the protocol and PCIe config. I think that what they were really doing was splitting the 16x lane from the CPU to use for the drive.

A lot of those era systems did support NVMe drive in PCIe slots, just not as boot drives.

I agree, not worth messing with a SATA SSD is still plenty fast for every day use.
