Can hard drive cause computer to restart with no warning?

Solution
You should be able to find some error codes or warnings in the Event Viewer logs.

Just look for log entries just before or at the time of restarts.

Event Viewer is somewhat intimidating so just take your time and work through it to get a sense of things. No rush is necessary.

Allow some time when opening folders. Event Viewer can report no entries but is really still looking for and gathering entries up. Give it a couple of minutes to be sure that there are, indeed, no entries to be found.

I’ve had this issue before and it was one of two things, a faulty power supply, or even worse, a small fracture in a solder somewhere on the motherboard.
