Can HD 4400 run a 2560x1080 UltraWide monitor?

Sorry I am a little confused about this. Intel's site says that the i7-4600u (which I have) can run

Max Resolution (HDMI 1.4)‡ 3200x2000@60Hz
Max Resolution (DP)‡ 3200x2000@60Hz

Does this mean that 2560x1080 is covered? I know 2560x1080 is smaller than it's maximum resolution, but does that mean it can support it? I'm not sure if just because it can handle a larger resolution that it can handle an ultrawide resolution.

If you have DisplayPort, yes. HDMI can't.

Will a mini displayport to displayport cable work? I have a Lenovo T440s which has a mini displayport

That's right. HDMI 1.4 don't have support for the 21:9 picture format, that was introduced in the HDMI 2.0 spec.

Absolutely, mini DisplayPort or mDP, to a full size DisplayPort cable will work just fine (mDP -> DP). Buy one that looks like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815158227
