I just recently built a gaming pc and I currently have no monitor so Im using a tv until it arrives. I have a gtx 1080 and i play CS: GO a lot but the thing is my fps seems to be around 140fps at max settings and I've seen a lot of people play at max settings at 300Fps so I'm worried that my GPU isnt performing as well as its expected.

All in all my question is:
Does using an Hdmi Cable limit the fps output of the gpu? and if I got a monitor and used a displayport would the fps increase to 300?

Solution
You should get more than 140fps with a GTX 1080 (not that you need it). What tv is it? DP is capable of higher bandwidth than HDMI though yes.

LOL

with a 1080 you have completely removed the gpu as the fps limiter on that game unless you run 4k

your max fps are cpu limited now
