I have a TV with 2 HDMI In. I use it as a PC monitor. PC outputs goes to HDMI1 & Satellite TV Box output goes to HDMI2.

HDMI 1 – PC, HDMI 2 – Satellite TV box (STB) output.

However, the output of STB passes thru a switch. SW1 -> 1 to TV OR SW1 ->2 to capture card, based on switch position.

Note that it’s just a passive Bi-Directional switch with a manually operated button. It’s not a splitter. See the photo.

Now I will be buying a new TV which meets all my must-haves but one catch is it will have only one HDMI port.

So will I be able to route SW1 -> 1 to SW2 -> 1 to TV?

i.e. Output 1 of SWITCH 1 is fed into Input1 of Switch 2 and then output from switch 2 to TV’s HDMI

See the attached photos.

Thanks.

Regarding:

"So will I be able to route SW1 -> 1 to SW2 -> 1 to TV?"

The switches simply send the electrons in different directions and, barring other information or insight, the electrons do not care.

Caveat being some possible loss of signal strength along the way due to switches and cables.

Not something I would expect based on the described environment.

Give it a try but check the RMA policies of the switch's vendor. Just in case.... :)

Thanks. Probably I am confused with concept of daisy chain hdmi which internet results show not supported. But there's no info in hdmi switch in series as such. Each cable is hardly 3 feet, so it's very short distance. Yes I will stick with amazon seller who offers 7 days return in my region.
