Can hear full audio on playback, only my voice in After Effects

So basically i have a video with me speaking, my friend speaking, and the game audio. when i watch the video in a video player (all seem to do the same) the audio comes through as if it was just one piece of audio. When i open it in Adobe After Effects CS5.5 however, only my voice can be heard. Im thinking it has to be something with audio layers, but im confused overall. i recorded the video with Dxtory and i think also an audio splitter. the video is in AVI format.

Perhaps you recorded in 5.1 surround, or similar, and After FX is set to listen to 'Stereo'?

is there a way to change it?
