Hi i stream games online as I play but it seems to have an impact on my games performance. I have been told I need more than my existing 8GB of RAM and should upgrade with another 8GB stick but i'm wondering if
1. That is in general a good choice
2. If i can get another 8GB stick from a different brand (as i cant tell where my original stick i from) and have them both be functional.

Thanks for your time!

Solution
Ok, so when it shows 800 MHz, that means your stick is the 1600MHz. It´s better to just take a look at the brand and try to get the same brand 1600MHz. If you´re not sure on how to take it off and take a look, a Kingston 1600 MHz 1x8 Gb will be fine,
16 Gb of RAM is getting more needed with the actual games. Not sure which games you´re streaming but if they´re the AAA Game + straming, definetally it´s a good choice.

With that being said, it´s better to get same brand of sticks of rams (and same clock as well). IF you don´t know which one you have and don´t wanna open your cpu case and desinstall it, download softwares as AIDA 64 and will get the information on the stick installed. Make sure to get at least the same clock, what´s your configuration?

Thanks for answering,
I used speccy and this is what it says about my current ram.

8.00GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 803MHz (11-11-11-28)
Memory slots
Total memory slots 4
Used memory slots 1
Free memory slots 3
Memory
Type DDR3
Size 8192 MBytes
Channels # Single
DRAM Frequency 803.5 MHz
CAS# Latency (CL) 11 clocks
RAS# to CAS# Delay (tRCD) 11 clocks
RAS# Precharge (tRP) 11 clocks
Cycle Time (tRAS) 28 clocks
Bank Cycle Time (tRC) 39 clocks
Physical Memory
Memory Usage 32 %
Total Physical 7.98 GB
Available Physical 5.35 GB
Total Virtual 16 GB
Available Virtual 13 GB
SPD
Number Of SPD Modules 1
Slot #1

And yeah i tend to play AAA games for the most part and online games which also causes strain on my computer.
Is there at all a stick you could recommend which would go with this?

You might have to slow the clock speed down to get it to boot up. It is best to buy a 2x8GB kit.

Q:
I want to install more memory, in addition to my existing memory kit. What are my options?

A:
We do not recommend mixing memory kits, regardless of brand or model.

By mixing memory kits together, there may be compatibility issues such as unable to boot or unable to operate at rated specifications.

Each of our memory kit are thoroughly tested to ensure compatibility within each memory kit. And because we have not tested our memory kit with your existing memory kit, we cannot guarantee compatibility when multiple kits are used.

Speccy is not giving you the RAM brand.. that's the 1st thing to consider, (use HWiNFO for RAM brand and specs)
2nd. = is the same latency, (11 clock = 11-11-11-28)
3rd = is the same speed = 1600 Mhz
4th = is the size 8GB (8192Mbytes)

And that would still not insure full compatibility... that would only be 100% guaranteed with a 2x 8GB = 16 GB kit. Use HWiNFO to get full RAM matching details.

And if you decide to buy a new RAM (16GB) memory kit, also provide CPU and motherboard brands and models so we can recommend the best compatible RAM brand and speed it can handle to get the best performance out of the computer.

Okay on HWiNFO it tells me its a "Row: 0 – 8 GB PC3-12800 DDR3 SDRAM Team Group Team-Elite-1600"
